A Glimpse into Manali’s History
Manali’s name is believed to be derived from Sage Manu, who according to mythology, recreated human life here after a great flood.
Over time, Manali became a popular summer retreat during the British era. Even today, you can see colonial-style cottages blended with traditional Himachali wooden architecture.
One of the most iconic landmarks here is the 16th-century Hadimba Devi Temple, known for its unique wooden carvings and peaceful cedar forest surroundings.
