The Hampta Pass Trek is one of the most scenic and exhilarating treks in Himachal Pradesh, offering a dramatic contrast between two sides of the Himalayas. On one side, you’ll witness the lush green Kullu Valley, while the other opens into the stark desert landscapes of Lahaul. The trek also features the stunning high-altitude Chandratal Lake in Spiti, making it a memorable crossover experience for trekkers.

Day 1: Manali → Jobra → Chika | 2–3 hours trek

After arriving in Manali, drive directly to Jobra. Enjoy a short break for lunch before starting the trek to Chika, an easy 2-hour walk that includes small river crossings. The trail is surrounded by green valleys and snow-capped peaks, creating a mesmerizing introduction to the Himalayas.

At Chika campsite, learn to pitch your own tent and explore the scenic surroundings. Relax in the evening and enjoy the first night under the stars.

Day 2: Chika → Balu ka Ghera | 5–6 hours trek

Start the day with hot tea or coffee and a light morning exercise. After breakfast, trek toward Balu ka Ghera, passing through stunning alpine landscapes and grassy slopes near the base of Hampta Pass.

The campsite offers breathtaking views of nearby peaks, including the Tokru-Shakru ranges, with snow on one side creating a striking contrast against the rocky slopes. Enjoy the serene environment and overnight stay at the campsite.

Day 3: Balu ka Ghera → Siagoru | Crossing Hampta Pass | 6–7 hours trek

Today marks the highlight of the trek — crossing Hampta Pass. Begin with awe-inspiring views of the outer Himalayan chain and Dhauladhar ranges. On one side, snow-capped mountains; on the other, rocky boulders and fragmented terrain.

After reaching Hampta village, which gives the pass its name, begin the descent to Siagoru base camp. Take rest and enjoy the tranquil surroundings after a challenging day.

Day 4: Siagoru → Chatru → Chandratal (optional) | 4–5 hours trek

Descend steadily from Siagoru toward Chatru, a small settlement in the Spiti Valley. The trail passes through a dramatic high-altitude cold desert landscape.

If conditions permit, take a short excursion to Chandratal, the moon-shaped alpine lake, and marvel at the surrounding mountains. Return to Chatru by evening for overnight stay.

Day 5: Chatru → Manali | Drive via Rohtang Pass

Drive back to Manali via Rohtang Pass, enjoying magnificent views of Hanuman Tibba along the way. For adventure enthusiasts, optional activities like paragliding, zorbing, and cable car rides are available at Solang Valley.

Arrive in Manali by afternoon. Take some time to explore the local markets or enjoy leisure activities before departing for Delhi by evening bus.
